Gabbro-diabas, high-strength material, is raw material for macadam production. The main purpose of usage is road concrete mix production. Asphalt quality requirements have increased in Russia lately. So many manufactures start to use the European recipe of road concrete mix. Process flowsheet of macadam production consists of four-stage crushing with a closed cycle in the II or III stage based on company SANDVIK aggregates (in particular, crushers: jaw crusher Jawmaster 1511, cone crusher H4800, H6800). Depending on consumers' requirement, impact crusher Merlin VS1107 is used in the production process. It allows to reduce macadam's flakiness up to 12%. Volume of output for 2008 is 1 079 553 t.

To produce macadam out of gabbro-diabase AO "KP-Gabbro" develops Navolokskoe occurrence in Kondopojskiy region in the Republic of Karelia. AO "KP-Gabbro" belongs to German company "Basalt AG", which has branches LLC "Basalt Management" in the cities of Russian Federation: St. Petersburg, Petrozavodsk. AO "KP-Gabbro" is the second quarry in Russian Federation bought by "Basalt AG" company. Active construction of the quarry in Navolokskoe occurrence is being carried on now: there are demolition works, access railway is being built, equipment is received and assembled.

In 2004 the German company „Basalt AG" got controlling block of stocks of OOO "Karier-Sheleiki". From this moment began an active building and enterprise development. By 2005 the necessary infrastructure has been created. In 2006 began the producing of aggregates at the enterprise, thus made the production corresponded not only to all requirements of Russian GOST, but also to the highest European standards from the very beginning.

OOO «Karier-Sheleiki» as the enterprise of the West European model traditionally attaches importance to ecological extraction of raw materials and handling nature with care.

Ecological monitoring of environment and monitoring of the water object is planning to be conducted in 2009 according to "the project of crashing- and screening plant construction and quarry development" under current legislation of Nature conservation complex and also "the Program of regular supervision over the water object and its water protection zone" approved by Neva-Ladoga Water Basin Committee.

There is irrigation system and dust-exhaust system to control dust formation.

There is irrigation and roads processing with binding additives to eliminate the sources of secondary dust formation.

Fractional aggregates by the physicomechanical indicators corresponds to requirements of GOST 8267-93 «Rubble and gravel from dense rocks for civil work» with a type of durability «1400», type of abradability - «I-1», type of frost resistance - «F-300».

Sand from crushing eliminations corresponds to requirements of GOST 8736-93 «Sand for civil work» and refer to the sand of raised size with a type of durability «1400».

According to the gamma spectrometer analysis, production relates to the 1 class of GOST 30108-94 and radiation standarts-99 and is suitable for usage in all kinds of building.

OOO "Mehanobr-Analit" has executed definition of adhesion of aggregates deposit to construction bitumen 60/90 of the Kirishsky Oil refinery plant and to bitumen of the firm "Neste" (Finland). Limiting adhesion at 120 mines to Kirishsky bitumen is 88,9-95,7 %, to Finnish - 96,4-96,8 %

The certification of the quality of mined rock and end products with reception of the sanitary and epidemiologic conclusions was made at the enterprise.

End products assurance is carried out in the test laboratory on the quarry which is provided by the necessary equipment and devices, and also has the certificate which has been given by FGU "test-s.-peterburg". Works are done according to GOST 8269.0-97 and GOST 8735-88
